Singularity: BTS’s Comeback Trailer
Aesthetic. Perfect. A Masterpiece. Singularity by Kim Taehyung (V) has introduced us to the excellence of the Love Yourself: Tear era.
Kim Taehyung, also known as V, shook social media and left all ARMYs in a frenzy after Singularity, a solo song of his, was used as the comeback trailer for BTS’s new era and album, Love Yourself: Tear. Both “Kim Taehyung” and “Singularity” reached 1 million tweets and trended worldwide in less than an hour.
The music video, which is the comeback trailer for the new era, included many aesthetic scenes and amazing dance scenes where Tae and his back-up dancers gracefully embraced the energy and rhythm of the song whilst Tae also sang the song beautifully. V’s radiant and deep, soulful voice kept ARMYs and viewers hooked to the last minute, whilst they also watched the story that was played out in the trailer.
Upon analysing the lyrics of the song, we see the pure, raw emotion that Taehyung puts into his music, where he speaks about his experiences by using metaphors and images of a “winter lake” that represents pain and hardships. However, he concludes positively by stating that “spring will come someday” and that the challenges we go through will not last forever.
After watching “Singularity” 50 times, reading through the lyrics and contemplating, I feel moved and unprepared. BTS’s new era is definitely going to show us many emotional experiences which ARMYs can relate to. The beautiful relationship between ARMYs and BTS is that we have become comfortable being vulnerable and open with one another. Singularity and Burn The Stage are both indicators that Bangtan wants to keep that special relationship going, and we must respect and appreciate it.
ARMYs, the time has come. BTS and BigHit are close to unveiling a new era to us that will consist of deep, emotional and intellectual music that will be produced and performed brilliantly. Singularity is only the beginning of what is to be a powerful, beautiful experience of Love Yourself: Tear. The question is, however: are we prepared?
